What we can help with
Urgent, but not a life-threatening emergency.
Evening urgent care is for pets who need to be seen soon, not weeks from now. Examples of concerns we can often assess:
We can't treat every condition safely here. If your pet needs intensive or around-the-clock care, we'll tell you and point you to a 24-hour hospital.
Vomiting or diarrhea
Ear infections
Skin irritation or itching
Minor wounds
Limping
Changes in appetite
Some urinary concerns
Eye irritation and other non-critical illness or injury
When to go to a 24-hour hospital
Some conditions can't wait for us to open.
Rosslyn is not a 24-hour emergency hospital. If your pet has any of these signs, or you think their life may be in danger, go to a 24-hour emergency hospital now. Don't wait for evening hours.
Severe difficulty breathing
Collapse or unresponsiveness
Bleeding that won't stop
Seizures that continue
Straining to urinate with little or no urine, especially in male cats
A swollen, hard or painful belly
Serious trauma, such as being hit by a car or a fall
Known or suspected poisoning
What to expect
What happens when you arrive.
Evening urgent care works like a walk-in clinic. Here is the usual flow.
Arrive or call ahead
Walk in during evening hours. If you call first, we can prepare.
Initial triage
We ask what's happening and check how urgent your pet's condition is.
Veterinary assessment
Pets are seen in order of medical need, not arrival time.
Options and estimate
We explain what we find, what tests or treatment may help, and what it may cost.
Treatment or referral
We treat what we can safely treat here, or refer you to a 24-hour hospital if your pet needs that level of care.
Going home
You leave with clear instructions and know when to follow up or call.
We can't guarantee wait times. Wait times depend on how many pets are being seen and how urgent each case is.
Costs
What will it cost?
Veterinary examinations, diagnostics and treatment may involve fees. We'll talk through your options and the likely costs with you before going ahead, so you can decide what's right for your pet.
